The second planning meeting for East Price Hill's community mural is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the Price Hill Will office, 3208 Warsaw Ave. East Price Hill was chosen as one of 10 city neighborhoods to participate in MuralWorks, a brand new year-round public art program sponsored by ArtWorks in which teenage and professional artists will work with community members to create murals. The first planning meeting took place Aug. 16, and those who attended answered a survey. The purpose of the second meeting is to vote on the two final mural designs, which will be painted on the building at 3206 Warsaw Ave., across from District 3 police headquarters. .

Indian Schools Asked to Ban Junk Food
India's children are getting increasingly overweight and unhealthy and the government is asking schools to ban junk food, officials said Thursday. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, a government advisory body, has drawn up healthy eating guidelines for both government and privately run schools to follow, said Sandhya Bajaj, a commission member. .

A state insurance board turned down the Alabama Senate's bid for state-funded health insurance yesterday, the Associated Press announced.In the closing hours of its last session on June 7, the Senate passed a resolution by an unrecorded voice vote to seek coverage through an insurance program operated by the State Employees Insurance Board.Finance Director Jim Main, a member of Gov. Bob Riley's Cabinet, urged the board to reject the resolution, and the board did so without opposition.Board members said they need a resolution passed by both houses of the Legislature for the application for insurance to be official.Sen. E.B. McClain, D-Midfield, said other Southern states provide publicly funded health insurance for their legislators and Alabama should do the same."I don't think we are any less important than any other state," McClain told AP in a phone interview.
