If you can’t get there...

From documentaries and pitch side gossip to alternative talk shows, poetry and the obligatory turn by national treasure Max Boyce, there's loads of alternative Rugby World Cup 2007 action on the box next month. Hannah Jones looks at what's on offer as our boys prepare for their big kick-off against Canada

He's still singing, hymns and arias...

ANY international rugby build-up would not be complete without a bit of Max Boyce magic and BBC1 Wales is offering the nation the chance to laugh and sing-a-long with Max ahead of the kick-off of the World Cup next week in Max Boyce's World Cup Journey (Bont to Nantes).

A spectacular rugby-flavoured entertainment extravaganza, the programme features Max in front of a specially-invited audience of rugby fans from rugby clubs across Wales with special appearances by mystery Welsh rugby stars.

Quick fix: Chicken with prosciutto

The first time I encountered the savory pleasures of chicken breast, ham and cheese was at my high school's honor society dinner in 1972: chicken cordon bleu. It seemed so exotic at the time: chicken breast pounded thin, stuffed with baked ham and Swiss cheese, then breaded and deep-fried.

State fares poorly in poverty, income

Tennessee has the eighth-highest poverty rate, and the state's residents are the ninth-lowest income earners in the nation. However, some area economists say the rankings aren't quite as bleak as they seem.

That's because the state's cost of living is the fourth-lowest in the nation, according to Jeremy Atack, a professor of economics at Vanderbilt University.
